Dr Fitzgerald will examine you, take a full medical history, and determine the best alternatives for treatment. This is an opportunity for you to gain a full understanding of your options, and what the process will be like.
Treatment
Numbing cream may be applied for 20-30 minutes prior to your procedure, to reduce the sensation from the needle. Although this does not remove all sensation, most patients find the procedure,(which lasts about 10 minutes) quite comfortable. Small amounts of hyaluronic acid gel mixed with a local anaesthetic are then injected with a tiny needle. You will see a difference immediately, but the true results are only visible about 1-2 weeks later, when the product has had a chance to settle in and integrate with the tissue. Although you may be able to feel the product immediately post-treatment, there should be no persistent lumps or bumps.
Follow up.
The true results of the treatment are fully visible around 2 - 4 weeks later. At that time, you will be asked to come back for a review to check that the results are optimal.

can i go straight back to work after getting fillers in my cheeks?
There may be some mild swelling immediately after the treatment, which could persist for a couple of days. Most people leave the clinic looking fine and are able to go back to work immediately. Cheek treatments involve some deep injections and bruising may develop over the next few days. It is not always possible to predict whether or not you will get a bruise, but if you do it can last (like any bruise) up to 2 weeks and may be difficult to hide with make-up. Think about scheduling your treatment to avoid any important social events in the unlikely event that you get significant bruising.
